screen in screen

Frank Carellini

i am face-timing with my
mother screen in screen
with tinder up on my phone
her picture in the corner of her
picture
we are talking about the new birdfeeder
and the new color she is painting the
kitchen after rain
is the name of the color—
she cannot see my hands swiping
or maybe she can and just thinks i’m
swatting at a fly in a way, i am
this fly is called vining ivy
which is the other color she considers for the
backsplash.

Frank Carellini primarily writes poetry, with publications (or soon to be) in Wild Roof, Meridian, Hobart, and other gracious journals.
