Love Song
I want to know what slides into
your heart sideways
What an orange slice tastes like
to you
How your fingers feel when they
press the mouth of the snapdragon
to make the flower laugh
Whose feelings you spare
when you lie
and most importantly
how you will love what you have loved
after you are gone
When I am gone,
I will rattle
fence posts in the fog
and lay down as droplets
on bright green grass
And when your bare feet stand in the river
I will swirl around you
a parade of little notes
folded like paper boats
saying
Yes, yes, yes.
