Primordial
Lori Illner Greene
This work believes in an invisible energetic connection of all things and is a fantastical interpretation of what those ephemeral ties might look like. Living or inanimate, our existence plays out in an interconnected timeline forged in our common elemental make-up. When we are no longer, our matter repurposes into new. This work is ultimately about our collective Impermanence. And the energetic residue left behind. Lori Illner Greene explores ideas of fragility through figurative sculpture, pastels and encaustic painting. Her work is informed by ideas of energetic connections associated with particle physics. She often utilizes the technique of paper mâché like assemblage to create sculptures that become the subject of her photographic imagery, drawings and paintings.
Lori Illner Greene graduated with an MFA in Visual Art from University of Nevada Reno in 2022. Her art education bookends and punctuates a 32+ year career spanning GPS and agribusiness consulting, information systems design, historical building renovations and Inn proprietorship, and her current role as Executive Director of the Fort Madison (Iowa) Art Center.
